Opal class had a fantastic morning at their “Stay and Read”. We were over the moon to have so many parents join us and really enjoyed sharing our favourite books, writing stories, practising phonics and dressing up! Thank you to all who came, we hope to see you again very soon for our next Stay and Read on the 7th December.
All parents please remember tomorrow is our “Stay and Read” at 9am. Come and join us as we get excited about reading! You can read with your child, play phonics games and talk about different books we have looked at in class.
Hope to to see you there!
This morning Opal class have been typing up our stories on J2e. This helped us to reinforce full stops, capital letters and finger spaces. The children typed up their version of Dogger or their adapted story of Dogger.
Opal Class played hockey in PE this afternoon. We practiced how to grip the stick, to dribble with the stick touching the floor and the flat edge facing forward. The children were fantastic! Definitely some hockey players of the future…
This morning, Topaz have been practising multiplication sums in maths using the ‘times’ sign. To calculate this, we can use repeated addition – 7 x 3 is the same as 7 + 7 + 7. In Guided Reading, we were predicting what the cats’ plan might be in our new book “Penguin in Peril”! A lot of the children thought they might be going to the zoo to capture a penguin to help them get some fish for their hungry bellies.
Crystal class have been rehearsing a story with actions ready to write it tomorrow. They thought of some fantastic adjectives to improve their story writing skills.
This afternoon KS1 have been rehearsing for their Christmas play “Lights Camel Action”!
This afternoon Opal class have been practising a twinkling tune for a musical toy box on the glockenspiels as part of our toys topic. In their books, the children wrote the notes they played and reflected on what they thought of the glockenspiels. We also practised our typing skills on J2e on the laptops.
Opal class have been working hard to subtract on the number line today. Start with your number and jump backwards. This meant we had to practise counting backwards on the number square too – all the way from 100!
